Our adventures took us to Gatlinburg, Smokey Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Cumberland Gap. Gatlinburg, TN is a great hub for those who like to ride motorcycles. It has multiple rides through the mountains - you can go over the mountain into North Carolina to the Blue Ridge Parkway or to a highway that is nicknamed the Dragon's Tail, Route 129 (it has 315 curves in 11 miles). No matter what rides you do from Gatlinburg, you will enjoy the beauty of the area. We also road Northeast to the Cumberland Gap and into Kentucky. Cumberland Gap has a visitor center, where you can either hike up to the overlook or drive up a corkscrew road up the mountain to a beautiful overlook where you can see for miles and also look down on the town of Cumberland Gap. The visitor center includes a walk through museum that provides the history of the area and a small gift shop. We then took a loop and stayed in a small town called Rugby, TN, at a little bed and breakfast off the beaten path called the Grey Gables Bed & Breakfast. Our hostess, Linda, was terrific, made us feel right at home. She made us a delicious dinner when we arrived and breakfast the next morning. If you are ever in Rugby this is a great place to stay.
